Creative Spaces developed an interpretation plan for the Kwinana Loop Trail, a 21-kilometre circuit that brings together natural landscapes, industry and cultural heritage. Traversing Whadjuk Nyoongar Country, the trail is used by walkers, cyclists, families and community groups, each engaging with the place in different ways.

The brief was to create an interpretation framework that could support this diversity of use while clearly sharing stories of Country, local history and the changing landscape. Interpretation needed to be robust, accessible and suited to an outdoor environment, with solutions that could be delivered over time.

The plan outlines a coordinated approach to signage, wayfinding, digital content, public art and play-based elements. Stories are distributed along the trail to encourage exploration, with maps and interpretive panels helping visitors understand where they are and what has shaped the area. Accessibility and clarity were key considerations throughout.

The resulting interpretation plan transforms the trail into a connected learning experience rather than a series of isolated points. It strengthens sense of place, supports respectful engagement with Country, and ensures the Kwinana Loop Trail remains relevant and engaging for future generations.
