Creative Spaces partnered with Perth Airport to design a permanent cultural display celebrating Noongar people’s deep and enduring connection to the land. Located in the Alpha Building foyer, the installation introduces visitors to stories of Country.

Developed in collaboration with archaeologists, anthropologists and the Noongar advisory panel, the display centres on ancient artefacts discovered on the airport estate. These objects tell stories of movement, trade and resource use spanning more than 40,000 years.

The design is shaped around the theme of journeys, tracing Noongar pathways from the coast to the Darling Scarp and along the Derbal Yerrigan. Materials such as blackbutt timber and stone-inspired textures create a tactile experience, while colours drawn from local wildflowers reference the surrounding landscape.

Ongoing consultation ensured cultural knowledge was shared respectfully and accurately. The completed display raises awareness of Noongar heritage and reinforces the airport’s role as a place of connection between past and present.
