The Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum is named after a local Armadale man who enjoyed restoring vintage machines and tools. The museum consists of over 100 objects. These include restored machinery, railway and printing memorabilia, tools and items’ relating to the work that Bert has done for the local community.
Creative Spaces was engaged by the City of Armadale to completely redesign the Museum. We designed the layout, furniture, graphic panels, exterior signage, object labels and museum logo. We created custom display furniture that incorporated interpretive panels and drawers in which to store objects. An effort was made to keep the shed feel whilst creating a cleaner, more spacious environment. Structural materials included steel, leather, jarrah and ply. This distinctive mix gives the space a rustic feel and retains the machinery aesthetic.
This project was completed in July 2015.
