Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre is located within Herdsman Lake Regional Park; the largest wetland in the inner metropolitan area and home to a large range of wildlife. The Centre has provided the Perth community with an innovative, engaging and educational space since it was founded in 1939.
Creative Spaces were engaged by the WA Gould League, the governing, not-for-profit organisation, to revitalise the centre. The new exhibition features a range of opportunities for engagement including live exhibits of local wildlife and specimens, interactives, bird watching, audio and multimedia displays. The Centre has been fully transformed with a comprehensive new fitout that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
Dual language (Noongar) has been used throughout Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre to identify the native species and give visitors a link back to the land on which they stand.
This project was completed in July 2021 on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja.
