The interpretive signs for Old Onslow aimed to engage visitors and support the ongoing conservation plan for the area. In the initial stages of the project we worked with Savagely Creative to identify themes, stories, and media as a part of an overarching interpretation plan for the site. Included in the plan were complete designs with full specifications for an interpretive and directional signage suite.
The Old Onslow Town signage aims to ensure the heritage significance can be communicated in a way that makes the site a sustainable tourist attraction. Life-sized silhouettes have been incorporated into some of the signage. These were inspired by the many individual stories of the struggle to establish a community in such an unforgiving environment.
This project was completed in May 2017.
