The Yarloop Timber Mill Workshops were a large, privately owned complex of timber and railway workshops, built in the early twentieth century. Operating as a museum since 1985, the Workshops were tragically destroyed by fire in 2016.
Led by the Shire of Harvey, a project is underway to redevelop the former State Heritage Listed site.
The Yarloop Interpretation Plan produced by Creative Spaces identifies the key themes, stories and media which can be used to create an engaging and educational visitor experience at the redeveloped Workshops. It celebrates the rich cultural heritage of this unique site and recommends interpretative methods which will see the site transformed into a vibrant, activated space, encouraging broader use by the local community and tourist markets alike.
The Plan was completed in August 2021.
Another timber mill project we have worked on is the State Timber Museum in Manjimup.
